Father John McEvoy is the retired pastor of St. Anne Catholic Church, Diocese of St. Petersburg, Florida. According to Bishop Gregory Parkes of the Diocese of St. Petersburg, “Father John McEvoy has been a tremendous blessing to the community of St. Anne Catholic Church. He has demonstrated strong leadership, heartfelt compassion, and inspiring faith through his many accomplishments, such as building the new church in Ruskin and serving the area’s poor and hungry. I’m grateful he will continue to serve in the Diocese of St. Petersburg during his retirement years.”
During the more than twenty years that Father has been at St. Anne Catholic Church, the congregation grew from 500 families to over 3,500 families. In addition to tending a flock that’s grown exponentially during his time as pastor, Father McEvoy oversaw the 2016 expansion of the St. Anne Food Pantry, which now feeds 400 families per week. He also has initiated the development of a new school to be built on the St. Anne campus.
In addition to his service to St. Anne Catholic church, Father John is chaplain to the Benedictine Sisters of Holy Name Monastery and is a ministry priest at St Leo University in St. Leo, Florida. as Ministry priest. He is also the spiritual advisor to the consecrated widows and ladies of North American Lourdes Volunteers.
In addition to his service to St. Anne Catholic church, Father John has taken on important roles in various religious organizations. He serves as the chaplain to the Benedictine Sisters of Holy Name Monastery and as a ministry priest at St. Leo University, both in St. Leo, Florida. Father John also serves the consecrated widows and ladies of North American Lourdes Volunteers as a spiritual advisor.
Originally from the coastal town of Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland, McEvoy celebrated his 47th anniversary as a priest June 6, 2023. Disaster Services is blessed to have Father McEvoy as a spiritual advisor.
